Following Jesus is free, but true discipleship comes with a cost. Jesus calls us to count the cost, surrender everything, and live set apart from the world. This means loving Him so completely that everything else appears secondary by comparison. Like Moses who turned aside to investigate the burning bush, we must step away from the familiar to pursue God more deeply. Carrying our cross means dying to our own desires, plans, and pride to follow Christ wholeheartedly. The cost is worth it because Jesus offers something infinitely greater than what the world promises.
